Care-experienced rangatahi leading the Te Waka Rangatira movement at a national level.

Our National Care-Experienced Youth Advocates (NYAs) are a rōpū of six care-experienced rangatahi who are helping steer Te Waka Rangatira, VOYCE's national youth leadership movement. They bring lived experience into national advocacy, grow networks of care-experienced rangatahi across Aotearoa, and are our tuākana to the wider movement.

What our National Youth Advocates do

  • Network Development - growing and connecting with care-experienced rangatahi in their region or community.
  • Collective Advocacy - representing rangatahi in national forums, submissions and campaigns.
  • Youth Participation - supporting young people to participate in hui, wānanga, workshops and consultations.
  • Leadership Development - mentoring care-experienced rangatahi and developing as leaders and tuākana themselves.
  • Governance - contributing rangatahi voice at a organisational and strategic level.
