VOYCE directly appeals to parents on Pink Shirt Day.
At the end of Bullying-Free NZ Week, Friday 17 May was Pink Shirt Day. VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai took to our social media platforms with a 60sec video appeal fronted by Tupua Urlich.
The powerful message took a simple juxtaposition that asks why anyone would blame a child separated from their family given that no one blames child whose parents are separated.
A great majority of children in the care system today are bullied and made to feel like they do not belong, which only serves to compound the difficulties they already face.
The hope was to get parents engaged and having conversations with their children, to impress upon them that through extremely challenging circumstances, children in care simply wants the same things that they do – love, care and acceptance.
