On 22 January, our Papamoa office was transformed into a vibrant, welcoming space for Style and Shade – a confidence-building event led by Jessica and Cindy for rangatahi aged 14–17.
Designed to bring young people together in a relaxed and uplifting environment, the afternoon gave taiohi the chance to explore clothing and makeup, express their personal style, and connect with others. With racks of outfits, beauty products, and a thoughtfully styled setup, the space felt more like a boutique experience than an office.
Six young people attended, and while there were no caregivers present, the atmosphere was filled with encouragement, laughter, and genuine connection. Beyond fashion and makeup, the event created something even more important – a sense of belonging.
Rangatahi shared heartfelt feedback, including:
“This is SO nice.”
“New thing I found out is that sharing is caring.”
“New things I found out is that there are people who care.”
“This is SO awesome!”
“I love the setup, it’s so cute.”
Style and Shade wasn’t just about trying new looks – it was about building confidence, discovering self-expression, and reminding young people that they are seen, valued, and supported.
