VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai took a group of rangatahi to join in with the Hatea Loop Challenge, with a splash of colour. It was a 4.8km run/walking event for workplaces and other groups to participate, have fun and challenge one another. While everyone ran and walked through the loop, there were five colour stations where vibrant coloured powder was thrown in the air, covering attendees. There was also some great local on-course entertainment that kept everyone moving forwards.

VOYCE had five rangatahi attend, and all five placed in the top 20 finishers out of hundreds of racers! So cool to see our young people getting out there and smashing some goals. This tūhono was a much needed distraction for everyone, especially the rangatahi who enjoyed just being able to connect with each other and have heaps of fun through a physical activity.

Whānau care is where a child is being raised by someone in their whānau or extended family. Often it means a child living with their grandparents – but could also be another family member like an aunt, uncle or older sibling. Whāngai is the traditional Māori practice of whānau care.
