VOYCE took a group of tamariki to Mt Smart Stadium on Tuesday 21 January for the “Future Warriors Footy Clinic”. This fantastic community project allowed twenty-five tamariki atawhai all with a passion for rugby league to come out to see what it’s like to spend a the day in the life of a Vodafone Warrior.
Tamariki were able to take a tour of the stadium (changing rooms, gym, fields etc), trained through some of the team’s exercise drills and finished off with a game. The biggest highlight was meeting the team themselves, taking pictures with the squad and getting loads of autographs.
The event also served to enrich connections between tamariki atawhai. Caregivers expressed how this opportunity provided extra support for their young rugby league lovers. There were smiles all round and VOYCE would like to acknowledge both the Vodafone Warriors and Oranga Tamariki for helping to make this special event possible.
