Recently, eight tamariki and three rangatahi came together at the Todd Energy Aquatic Centre in New Plymouth for an awesome day out. At first, everyone was a bit shy, just quietly scoping each other out. But over the course of three hours, the group slowly opened up, and soon, the sound of laughter and chatter filled the air. By the time the event ended, no one wanted to leave the pool!
It wasn’t just the young ones having a great time—their caregivers were able to relax and watch as new friendships blossomed. Phone numbers were exchanged, and a real sense of connection was made.
We’re already talking about getting together again for tūhono before Christmas for more fun and bonding. Even those who were a bit reluctant at first ended up surprising themselves with how much fun they had!
This day wasn’t just about swimming—it was about building friendships and creating memories. Keep an eye out for our next gathering!
