VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai Whangerai hosted Elana (of Voyage for VOYCE) recently, and among many connection events, they hosted a dinner with Elana at Te Ora Hou. Tamariki in a residential whare came along for a kai and to meet Elana to hear all about her sailing adventures.
They prepared a lovely meal of homemade katsu bowls, rice, chicken and coleslaw topped with Japanese mayo and ABC sauce.
There was 13 care experienced YP who attended (ages 7-18 years old), 1 social worker and 3 kaimahi from VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai.
The highlight of the night was watching the young people engaging with Elana, who all enjoyed the night and had fun hearing the stories of Elana’s time out at sea sailing.
Quote of the night:
YP: “Did you sail all the way from America?
YP: “Far that’s gangster!”
VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai Northland would like to thank team and Leona for the support in creating this Tuhono.
