VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai hosted a Christmas style sausage sizzle at Flaxmere Village for the tamariki and rangatahi of Flaxmere. The Hawkes Bay team couldn’t have wished for a better last day at mahi before the Christmas. We were lucky enough to be able to give the tamariki and rangatahi, not only some kai but a little gift each thanks to the Hawkes Bay Golf Club’s generous donation, Kids Can New Zealand and Western Rangers Football club in Hastings.

A huge thank you to Chris and his team at New World Flaxmere for supporting the event with some kai and gifts. Thank you to our lovely volunteers, Honey Morunga and her whānau and our amazing, care experienced community who are always there to lend a helping hand at our events.

The Hawkes Bay team has really enjoyed our tuhono this year and wanted to finish the year with an event to say thank you to our young people who make these events so enjoyable.

Merry Christmas from Hawkes Bay.

Whānau care is where a child is being raised by someone in their whānau or extended family. Often it means a child living with their grandparents – but could also be another family member like an aunt, uncle or older sibling. Whāngai is the traditional Māori practice of whānau care.
