Flip Out and Pizza Party in Nelson
During our recent trip around the Upper South region in the school holidays we took some time to connect with our care-experienced community in Blenheim! We booked some lanes at the Blenheim Indoor Sports Centre and had two dozen people join us including tamariki, rangatahi, caregivers, grandparents, and social workers. Everyone was divided into teams and got bowling with a break for some yummy kai in between. It was cool to see old friends connecting with each other as well as new people we had never met before. This was a success as it was our very first tūhono in Blenheim 😊
Towards the end of the night, once a few of the little ones left the teens took over and had a lane to themselves having loads of fun doing trick shots and competing against each other! It was also cool to see everyone leave with lots of VOYCE information and VOYCE caps for the kids. Everyone was very appreciative that we took the time to run something in Blenheim in the school holidays. A lot of the whānau from Grandparents Raising Grandchildren also liked being included.
The Upper South region should stay tuned for some more exciting stuff being planned during the October school holidays, so watch this space!
Thank you to Oranga Tamariki in Blenheim for helping us make this happen.
