With a bounce in their step and smiles on their faces, our unicorn-themed tamariki leapt into Chipmunks at Chapel Street in Tauranga, ready to go. They shared their stories and outfits about unicorns, proudly showing off the fantastic job they all did.

They played together and enjoyed fairy bread with sprinkles! Finally, with energy burnt from having so much fun, and all the unicorn photos taken, there was one more thing – the lovely gift bags which included some wonderful L’Oréal goodies.

Connections were established with caregivers and positive relationships were built with our tamariki. We will be following up with future home visits and most caregivers indicating they would love to visit with us again and come to more VOYCE events.

Whānau care is where a child is being raised by someone in their whānau or extended family. Often it means a child living with their grandparents – but could also be another family member like an aunt, uncle or older sibling. Whāngai is the traditional Māori practice of whānau care.
